World Cup Final Prediction

When will teams learn to NOT PARK THE BUS AGAINST ARGENTINA!?!? Seriously, when you have a lead, don’t sit back.  England ultimately paid the price for that decision and are now stuck playing France in the third-place game, while Argentina will try to become the first nation since Brazil to win back-to-back World Cups. Meanwhile, after their dominant performance against France, Spain will be looking to win its first World Cup since 2010. All I know is that neither team could beat Cape Verde in 90 minutes, meaning Cape Verde actually should earn at least a share of the trophy.

Since no one really cares about the third-place game I’ll just say:

  • France wins

  • Mbappe scores a couple of goals

  • Thomas Tuchel doesn’t fly home with the team

Now onto the finals…

Spain vs Argentina

We are in for a fun one.

Spain has been the best team this tournament. They have only allowed one goal, and they've played their style to a tee. They control the possession, make you chase the game and force you to play on their terms. They just shut down Mbappe and France without breaking a sweat.

Argentina didn’t dominate their way to the final, but they won’t die. As I said earlier, you can’t sit back against them. If you do, you'll pay the price. Lionel Messi won’t let them lose. If this is his last World Cup, then he is going out in style. Every game they have played in the knockouts has come down to the wire, making for some exciting football.

If there is one team that could survive playing defensively against Argentina, it's Spain. I don’t want to pick against Messi. But in this case, I have to! I think Spain scores first and they will ultimately hold on to win the World Cup.

Spain 2, Argentina 1

Semifinals record: 1-1

Overall record: 21-9
